David Lee Arends, 64, of Martell, Nebraska died of natural causes on Sunday, June 30, 2019.
Dave was born December 1, 1954 in Omaha, Nebraska with his twin brother, Daniel, to Raymond and Merlyn (Wittler) Arends and raised on a family farm in Talmage, Nebraska. He graduated from Nemaha Valley High School in 1973 and later from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 1977. He was dedicated to supporting the agriculture community through his work for over 40 years.
In college, Dave was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and graduated with degrees in Agriculture and Animal Science. After graduation, Dave managed the crop-production division of a large Co-op in Neligh, Nebraska where he was also a member of the volunteer fire department. In 1986 he started working as a Farm and Ranch Manager for United Farm and Ranch Management. He took great pride in serving his clients, many of whom became and remained close friends. Dave received a combined “Farm Manager of the Year Award” from the Nebraska Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers and Pheasants Forever for his work in conservation and habitat development.
Dave cherished spending time with his daughters, especially at Husker football games and on his ski boat in the summer.
He is survived by his daughters Kelsey and Darcy, ex-wife Connie Arends, aunt Arlene Fleischer, sister-in-law Deb Arends, and niece Kathleen (Gene) Ousey, all of Lincoln.
He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Merlyn, three brothers: one infant stillborn brother, Richard, and Daniel. Grandparents, Richard and Christine Arends and Herman and Freda Wittler.
The service will be at Southwood Lutheran Church in Lincoln on Wednesday, July 3rd at 10:30 am. Memorials can be made to Southwood Lutheran Church, Nebraska Game and Parks, or Alpha Gamma Rho.
