Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at the Milford United Methodist Church with Pastor Lyle Schoen officiating. A visitation with family is Tuesday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Lauber Funeral Home, Milford. Her final resting place will be in Lyons Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the services at the church. Memorials have been established to the Milford American Legion Auxiliary.
Edna “Sue” Ilene Frey was born January 24, 1933, in Lyons, Nebraska the only daughter and third of five children born to Peter and Elizabeth (Mathiesen) Gage. Sue passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019, surrounded by her family at her home in Milford at the age of 86.
As a young girl, Sue attended grade school and later became a 1951 graduate of Underwood High School, near Council Bluffs, IA. Afterwards, Sue worked as a secretary with Mutual of Omaha. On July 8, 1953, she was united in marriage to Marvin D. Frey and to this union a daughter, Cathy and a son, Mark were born. Together, they moved to Milford where Sue was employed as secretary at ESU #6 from 1971 until her retirement in 1992. She loved the time spent with her family and friends, watching her grandchildren’s activities and collecting angels and frogs. Sue enjoyed watching the Kansas City Royals baseball games, crocheting with her husband Marvin, camping and their many trips to the Black Hills, playing cards and celebrating Christmas and birthdays with family and friends. She was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children, Cathy Frey and Mark and Lorna Frey, all of Milford, grandchildren, Colby (Rebekah) Frey, Milford, Brandy (Phil) Rader, Omaha, Ryne (Emily) Frey, Kearney,Trey Frey, David City, great-granddaughter, Brianna Sue Rader, Omaha, brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter and Corrine Gage, Omaha, Stanley Gage of Ft Calhoun, Connie Gage-Lary, Council Bluffs, IA, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin in 2004, brothers, John and Roy Gage, sisters-in-law, Eleanor and Joan Gage and a niece, Gina Gage.
