Carla J McCullar

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 7, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Friend and a mass in St. Augustine Catholic Church in Brighton, CO at a later date.  Memorial contributions in memory of Carla may be directed to the Elks National Foundation.

Carla Jean (Giddens) McCullar was born May 15, 1943, in Miami, Florida to Carlton and Doris (Clanton) Giddens, the second of three children, and passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at her home in Friend, Nebraska at the age of 78. 

Carla grew up in Hahira, Georgia.  She attended grade school and later became a 1961 graduate of Hahira High School.  She furthered her education by attending Valdosta Vocational Technical School where Carla earned a degree as a lab technician.  On November 24, 1971, she was united in marriage to Gary L. McCullar and to this union four children, Judy, Glenda, Carla L. and Daniel were born.  In addition to raising her children, Carla also was employed at the  Georgia Sheriffs Boys Ranch Hahira and was office manager for Caremore Chiropractic in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 12 years.  She was a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge in York and the St Joseph Catholic Church in Friend.  Besides spending time with her grandchildren, she loved to go fishing and working in her yard.   

Survivors include her husband, Gary, Friend; daughters and son-in-law, Judy and Phillip Prince, Hudson, CO, Glenda Kneifl of Rio Communities, New Mexico, Lynn Jackson, Geneva, NE; 5 grandchildren, Stephen and Dina Prince, Keenesburg, CO, David Prince, Hudson, CO, Bryan and Kathleen Prince, Cheyenne, WY, Katie Meadows, Sherrills Ford, NC, Danielle Jackson, Friend, NE; 6 great-grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Jerry Cross, LaBelle, FL, brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Linda Giddens, Valdosta, GA, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George and Patricia McCullar, Parker, CO, Maureen and Tom Robb, Littleton, CO, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Carla was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Danny Louis in 2001 and a brother-in-law, Daniel “Danny” McCullar and other in-laws.
