Connie K. Sutton, 87, of Friend, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021, at Gardenside Long Term Care in Fairbury. Connie was October 10, 1934, in Seward, Nebraska to John and Vivian (Gembler) Sampson. She grew up in Friend and graduated from Friend High School in 1952.
She was united in marriage to James Sutton on September 24, 1955, in Lincoln. To this union, three children were born, David, Don and Barb.
Friend was their home where Connie worked for Friend Public School, where she was the Principal’s Secretary. She retired in 1990 after 20 years of service and was very proud of the fact that she did not miss a day in 20 years.
If you ever went to Connie’s house you probably would find her watching a sporting event, especially the Kansas City Royals Baseball team. If you didn’t like sports, you would learn to like it. If you ever attended a sporting event, you would know exactly where Connie was sitting in the crowd. Following her retirement, Connie and Jim would travel in their 5th wheel camper and spend winters in Florida, where there son David lived.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jim and step-daughter, Pam.
Survivors include her sons, David (Jackie) Sutton, Rockledge, FL, Don (Deb) Sutton, Fairbury; and daughter, Barb (Rod) Bleich, of Topeka, KS; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a brother, Dick (Sue) Sampson of Sun City, CA.
