Justine Marie Therrien, 96, of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, died Tuesday, March 16th, 2021. Justine “Tippy” Therrien, daughter of Lucien and Delia (Gamache) Dupras, was born September 4, 1924, in North Adams, Massachusetts. She called many places home over the decades, but Kinship Pointe Assisted Living Center in Seward, NE was her final resting place.
As a young girl, Justine attended Drury High School in North Adams, Mass. and after her schooling, she worked for her mother. At the tender age of 17 she married William “Bill” C. Therrien in North Adams. They met on a blind date and had eyes for only each other the rest of their lives. From this union, three children blessed their marriage.
Following the resolution of WWII, Bill and Tippy relocated to Hacienda Heights, California in 1952. From there they moved to San Andreas, CA in 1979, and then to Jenny Lind, CA in 1984. After her husband’s death, Justine moved to Lincoln, NE and then Beaver Crossing, NE to be closer to family. She also spent time in New Castle, Colorado, before returning to the Cornhusker State and settling into Beaver Crossing once more. Throughout her life, Tippy was a foster advocate. Justine and Bill provided foster care for over 14 years. They were “mom and dad” to over 100 children in need of love and hope. Justine also loved fostering animals including cats, goats and chickens. She loved her special poodles, “Cricket” and “Sassy” (a highchair in her dining room was especially for them) and her donkeys, “Abner” and “Frank” (both of whom ate many meals of apple pie and popcorn). She was an avid hobbyist who operated a ceramics shop from her garage. She enjoyed doing needle work such as crocheting, embroidering and making afghans. Bingo was her favorite pastime.
Justine was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, formerly a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lincoln, NE and was a honorary Rebekah for the altar society of the church served by Rebekah Lodge #179 in Calaveras County, California. In 1999, she went with her granddaughter, Jeannie, to St. Louis, Missouri to see Pope John Paul.
Justine is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Donna Meade, of New Castle, CO, Shawn and Chris Boreta, of Hayward, CA, 8 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends from everywhere she’d called home.
Justine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (1985), her son Richard (2013), her granddaughter Jeannie Dunn (2016), and siblings: Edward, Dora, Octavia, Rock, (Rose) Agnes, Clarence and Clemins.
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
