Mike M. Mundhenke

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Living Word Lutheran Church, Seward, with Pastors Scott Krohn and Tim Springer officiating.  Afterward a lunch will be held at the church, followed by graveside services at Blue Mound Cemetery, Milford, with military honors. A visitation is Tuesday from 1-9:00 p.m. at Lauber Funeral Home, Milford.  Memorials have been established and may be directed in care of the family.      

Michael Milton Mundhenke was born on September 27, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska,   was adopted by Milton and Frances (Springer) Mundhenke and passed away Friday, October 9, 2020, at his home in Milford surrounded by his family.

He was baptized in the Methodist Church and as a young boy, attended a country school east of Milford.  He later was a 1966 graduate of Milford High School and attended Peru State College. He enlisted into the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict and served in the infantry.  He was honorably discharged in 1972 and returned to Nebraska where he was united in marriage Karen Meyer on August 21, 1972 and to this union two boys, Matthew and Mark were born.  Mike worked for the Milford Feedlot, Seward Motor Freight, Seward County-where he drove a gravel/rock truck, and began his career in pest control and eventually beginning his own business, “Homestead Pest Control”, retiring in 2018.   Mike was Seward County Commissioner up until his death, serving District 1.  He was also a member of the Living Word Lutheran Church, Seward, and the Seward County Sherriff’s Posse.  He enjoyed boating, riding horses and motorbikes, was an avid football fan and played golf.  Mike loved serving others and was often prompt and was easy to talk to. 

Survivors include his wife, Karen, Milford, sons, Matthew Mundhenke, Milford, and fiancé Stacy Widick, four grandchildren, Jayda Mundhenke, Michigan, Shyann Mundhenke, Omaha,  Cassidy Mundhenke, Powell, WY, Brett Mundhenke, Deshler, NE, a brother, Clarke (Sharon) Mundhenke, Lincoln, brother-in-law, John and Maralee Meyer, Milford, sister-in-law, Sharon and Jerry Culp, Seward, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Mark in 2010.
