Sherry's wishes were to have a small, private family viewing prior to cremation, with her final resting place at Mound Prairie Cemetery, Goehner. Memorials may be directed to the family in care of the funeral home, PO Box 41 Milford, 68405.
Sharon “Sherry” Wanda Rigby was born January 9, 1943, in Leavenworth, KS to Herbert and Dorothy (Brazeal) Williams, and passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Fairview Manor in Fairmont at the age of 78.
Sherry grew up in Omaha, and married Charles “Chuck” Rigby and had two daughters, Shelly and Holly. They eventually moved to Goehner, Nebraska in 1970. Sherry was employed with the United States Postal Service, retiring after 35 years of service. Though she fulfilled many roles with the Post Office, her favorite was being the Postmaster at the Goehner Post Office where she remained until retirement.
She found her joy and love in caring for her daughters and her 3 granddaughters, who lovingly called her “NoNo”. She was an avid reader, loved to work in her flower garden and loved her pets. She was an amazing mother, grandmother and loyal friend to all she knew.
Sherry is survived by her daughter, Shelly (Rigby) Carter, Friend, and her granddaughters, Sydney, Carly and Riley Focht.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Holli (Rigby) Focht, sister, Lenora “Lenny” Williams, and her ex-husband, “Chuck” Rigby, whom she was married for 42 years; and longtime companion Donald “Don” Freeman, who loved and cared for her, especially in her final years.
