A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cordova, with Pastor Michelle Kanzaki officiating. For those attending, you are welcome to join the family by wearing your favorite fishing shirt. A luncheon will be provided immediately following the service at the Cordova Community Hall. Visitation is Sunday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and with family available from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Lauber Funeral Home, Friend and 1 hour prior to services Monday at church. Memorials have been designated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Victor Vern Beckler was born June 24, 1990, in Friend, Nebraska to William and Tressa (Brown) Beckler, and passed away suddenly on Monday, February 14, 2022, at his home in Elwood at the age of 31.
Victor was baptized on July 29, 1990, and confirmed on April 24, 2005, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cordova. He attended Friend Public Schools, graduating in the class of 2009. Victor enjoyed participating in Music, Drama, Art and summer baseball. He graduated with the class of 2009. He attended Central Community College in Columbus and later Chadron State College. While in college, he was active in instrument music and played in a band with his friends. He moved back to Friend, where he was employed at Friend Public Schools in the special education department. Victor loved working with his students and helping with the drama productions. In the summer, he worked on the farm and coached baseball. In 2018, he started a career in the food service industry, working first at the Friend Country Club and later at the Nautical Rose and Lakeshore Marina at Johnson Lake. He prided himself in serving customers with charm and good humor and was often requested by restaurant patrons. Victor had a passion for fishing and spent most of his free time outdoors regardless of the weather. He noticed detail and could share endless facts about the music, sports, and movies he loved. Facts about DC, Marvel, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings were also often shared. He enjoyed playing cards and could make friends with anyone. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals, especially pets Dinah, Jagar, and Carol. Victor was known for his charisma, kindness and ability to find happiness in the little things.
Survivors include his parents, William and Tressa Beckler, Friend; brothers and sister-in-law, Emmett and Mariah Beckler, and Charles Beckler, all of Friend; a sister, Dr. Rebecca Beckler, Grand Island;, grandparents, Harold and Becky Brown, Friend, Robert Theis, Fairmont; aunts, uncles, Daran and Alicia Brown, Seward, Rachel and Greg Garlock, Elkhorn, Shelly and Rick Williams, Lincoln, Lisa Beckler, Sarasota, Florida, several cousins; his Nautical Rose family; 24 international siblings; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Victor was preceded in death by his grandparents, Orie Beckler and Alice Beckler Theis, and an uncle, Kurt Beckler.
